Our Tropic Surf Camp will take us to Simeulue, Northern Sumatra, a remote area of West Indonesia.

Limited accommodation and travel paths allow surfers to rediscover the idyllic Indonesian surf and travel experience full of culture, nature and perfect surf.

Suitable for:

Tropic Surf Camp is best suited to surfers aged 18yrs+ with advanced beginner to advanced level skill. Meaning, as a minimum requirement surfers are independent at catching waves and ride along the face of unbroken green waves at least head height.

Surf Coaching:

• During surf sessions there will be a surf coach and local guides to ensure that you are positioned in the best spots to select and ride the best waves for your ability!

• We will be utilizing several video analysis methods to break down technique after each surf session when back on land, in preparation for the next day of coaching.

• There will be an included package of camera, video and drone action.

• It is helpful that you have had coaching with us, but not compulsory.

The Accommodation:

The accommodation consists of luxury villas that house 2 - 4 guests per villa depending on the group size and how the guests choose to travel (partners / singles / with children etc).

There are private bathrooms, a pool, wifi, an entertainment hub and 3 delicious meals daily.

Please note due to the limited space, there is unlikely to be any private rooms.

The Waves:

There are uncrowded waves all along the south and western side of the island and breaks that are yet to be named or even discovered.

Within 5 to 60 minutes from the resort, there are at least 10 quality waves. Ranging from super hollow reefs to more mellow slow peeling beach breaks.

Every evening the guides and surf coaches will discuss the best options for the next day. After an early morning swell, wind, and tide check the call will be made for the group to best suit each surfers ability.

Typically, you can surf one spot in the morning and one or even two spots in the afternoon. We know that everyone has different surfing levels but the beauty of the island is that there are plenty of different wave options to match or push your ability.

As mentioned previously, there are waves for all levels of surf skill.

Optional Boat Trip: $50 per surfer. This includes all boat logistics, coaching and a day on the water at a remote location.

Pre-Requisite:

Able to paddle into your own waves and trim along the face of green faced waves up to head high. This is classed as an advanced beginner.

Local Culture:

Simeulue people though very friendly maintain their strong Muslim beliefs. Therefore we are respectfully asked to dress moderately (arms, chest and knees covered) when outside the resort grounds. Therefore unfortunately means no bikini, or tank tops when out in town.

For surfing, we recommend men wear board shorts and a rash shirt if you like. Women either a one piece swimsuit with long tights, spring suit or board shorts with a rash vest. We can also arrange boat trips to secluded islands where dress is not an issue.

Alcohol in some areas illegal to be consumed. If you intend to bring duty free it can only be enjoyed inside your accommodation.
